Theft, bullying, lateness, turning up drunk – these are all examples of misconduct or serious misconduct in the workplace. If they happened in your business would you know how to address them?
When an employee’s behaviour falls short of (or against!) expectation, there is a clear process to follow to protect your business’s reputation – getting it right is crucial for safeguarding against any legal liability. Get the process for managing a disciplinary matter wrong and, as the employer, you could be faced with a personal grievance or worse still, liable to pay penalties.

- The link between employment agreements, company policies and misconduct
- The different types of misconduct and serious misconduct
- The steps to manage a disciplinary process, including investigations and giving warnings
- What you need to know about dismissing employees
This is a practical and intimate session with likeminded leaders, managers and business owners, where you’ll have the opportunity to take learnings straight back to the workplace.

With a National Diploma in Human Resource Management and 7 years’ experience in HR and recruitment, I’ve enjoyed building up a breadth of knowledge working in a number of medium to large organisations in New Zealand.

My time outside of work is kept busy with my husband, three children and two dogs. I love the outdoors and spend a lot of time getting out of the city, hunting and camping with the family.
